holiness

oh my Savior, Your holiness consumes me.
it brings me to tears and casts away my fears.
my heart trembles before You,
show me what is pure, the things I must endure.

Your love shines brightly,
more glorious than the stars, though You bore my scars
longing for Your touch, breath, and life.
You draw near wiping away every tear.

may the wedding bells ring

my God I'm so undeserving,
and yet You long for me with love that's preserving.
a covenant I could never fully understand,
Your thoughts about me outnumber grains of sand.
how selfless of Christ to die on a cross,
for without His sacrifice I'd be at a loss.

I've gained Your life in exchange for mine,
and sit at the banquet table where we shall dine.
I am Yours, a matrimony so true,
for my heart beats exclusively for You.

on this day may the wedding bells ring,
and hark the harold angels sing.

psalm 22:2-5

O my God, I cry by day, but You do not answer;
and by night, but I have no rest.
yet You are holy,
O You who are enthroned upon the praises of Israel.
in You our fathers trusted;
they trusted and You delivered them.
to You they cried out and were delivered;
in You they trusted and were not disappointed.

thoughts of thy love

oh how I long for Your guidance and comfort.
my mind wanders toward places I swore not to go.
but You O LORD have lavished love upon my heart,
for Your thoughts about me outnumber the stars.

though I tremble before You, in Your presence unworthy.
yet my God has cleansed me, body, soul, and mind.
the Lamb was slain and rose triumphantly.
I can rejoice and be glad,
these thoughts are lovely and I shall meditate over them.

a lover's plea

oh beloved Savior, rescue me from this mire
for spirit and flesh are warring, they cause me to tire.
a daily struggle to pursue what's pure
yet how the Father's guides, of this I'm sure.
in times of unrest I grow weary and numb,
no longer a refugee, with Grace I succumb.

merely human, a daughter of Eve
emotional fabric I wear heart on sleeve.
in spite of imperfection so obvious to me
I fall before Jesus with a lover's plea.

know my desire that I have You
for the compassion of Christ is holy and true.

psalm 37:4-6

delight yourself in the Lord and He will
give you the desires of your heart.
commit your way to the Lord;
trust in Him and he will do this:
He will make your righteousness shine
like the dawn, the justice of your cause
like the noonday sun.

fixed gaze

my eyes are upon the Lord.
oh but how quickly I turn away.
forgive me Father in my distractions,
they sting the heart and crush the spirit.

in times of anxiety, You O LORD are soothing,
Your comfort sustains me.
I will fix my gaze upon the Father,
for He has provided righteously.

Psalm 139:14

I will give thanks to You, for I
am fearfully and wonderfully made;
wonderful are Your works,
and my soul knows it very well.

-a psalm of David

uncontainable joy, unrelenting praise

my God has provided for me,
His timing impeccable.
how could my heart ever doubt You O LORD?
with You I dwell in lovely places,
and my heart is made full.

praises are on my lips
and tears hang on my cheeks,
for the Lord is good to those who honor Him.
my joy for You is uncontainable,
I shall worship with unrelenting praise.
bless the name of Jehovah Jireh, the Lord on High.

cleanse

in the same way You send rain to cleanse the earth,
nourishing and sustaining,
You sent Christ to cleanse my soul.
apart from His blood no one is holy,
but my God's fragrant love has covered me.

uphold me O LORD with Your righteous right hand,
and bring me to the Throne of Grace.
for I am thirsty and You quench me,
and Your water flows with life.

psalm 119:105

Your word is a lamp to my feet,
and a light to my path.

-a psalm of (commonly believed) David

untitled

my cheeks are stained with salty sorrow,
the nights seem grim before I slumber.
yet You O LORD, how You uplift me,
Your promises bring life!

in the deep and quite place,
You have heard me sob,
Your comfort is a fortress.
I know Love, and Grace fellowships with me.

-B

psalm 5:2-3

God heed the voice of my cry,
my King and my God,
for to You I will pray.
my voice You shall hear in the morning; O LORD;
in the morning I will direct it to You,
and I will look up.

chains undone

no longer a captive, my heart set free.
a divine love has revived me.
but who could understand such amazing grace?
it's only when we've met Jesus face to face.
refined and restored with the Holy Spirit's breath,
my life has joy for the Messiah conquered death.

redemption for all, the thought draws me to my knees.
praise to the Father in hearing my pleas.
a former slave, a captive bound.
healing and victory I have found.
clinging onto freedom, my feet will run,
with hands held high and chains undone.

origins through history

the word psalms is derived from the Greek ψαλμοί (psalmoi), originally meaning "songs sung to a harp", from psallein "play on a stringed instrument".

in Hebrew, tehillim‎, תְהִלִּים, or "praises" is what one finds as a book of the Bible most notable for David's writings.

thank you for the inspiration David, your words echo our Father's love.
my praises, my songs sung to a heart's harp.
just a modern day psalmist.
